Sufficient - There should be enough information to thoroughly explain the topic and provide a comprehensive understanding for the reader.
While "specific" could also be important in certain contexts, it is less critical than the three above for a general explanatory essay. Anecdotal evidence is typically less formal and may not be as strong in an explanatory context. Statistical information can be relevant, but it is not always a requirement.
