Which of the following sentences DOES NOT illustrate subject- verb agreement.

1.Each of the players need a locker.
2.He said that the computer is broken.
3.There go the members of the cast.
4.We knew that rivers flow south.

1.Each of the players need a locker.
2.He said that the computer is broken.
3.There go the members of the cast.
4.We knew that rivers flow south.

The KEY to this is to find the subjects and verbs. Then check to see if they agree in number.

For instance, in #2 there are two clauses. He said (major clause) that the computer is broken ( dependent clause) He is the subject and said is the verb... those agree in number. Computer is....those also agree. So number 2 is correct.

In #1 what is the subject and verb?
In #3, the subject follows the verb so put it in front and see if it agrees.
In #4, there are again 2 clauses. Look at them separately for agreement.

If you need further help with this.... we will be glad to help.
