To become a naturalized citizen of the United States, a person must:
- speak, read, and write basic English
- pass a test demonstrating knowledge of U.S. history and civics
The other options listed (marrying a citizen, holding a job with a U.S. company, and residing in the U.S. for at least seven years) are not requirements for naturalization. The standard residency requirement for naturalization is actually five years (or three years if married to a U.S. citizen).
