Which of the following is an example of transitive property?

a. If x=5, then x-2=5-2
b. If x+5=y and y=-2, then x+5=-2
c. x+5=x+5
d. If y=x-2, then x-2=y

my answer is B. That is my best answer to this question because my book doesn't adequately explain what transitive property is.

In mathematics, a binary relation R over a set X is transitive if it holds for all a, b, and c in X, that if a is related to b and b is related to c, then a is related to c.

For example, "is greater than," "is at least as great as," and "is equal to" (equality) are transitive relations:

whenever A > B and B > C, then also A > C
whenever A ≥ B and B ≥ C, then also A ≥ C
whenever A = B and B = C, then also A = C

so my answer would be B also
