So this question was in my grade 8 math workbook.
First change the percents to decimals (p/100):
120%➡1.2
0.3%➡0.003
Multiply:
1.2*0.003=0.0036
Multiply 1000 by 0.0036:
1000*0.0036=3.6
Next part into a decimal:
120.3%➡1.203
Multiply:
1.203*1000=1203
Therefore 120.3% of $1000 is greater.
