The Human Development Index (HDI) includes three key factors:
-
Health: Measured by life expectancy at birth, which reflects the overall health and longevity of a population.
-
Education: Assessed through two components:
- Mean years of schooling for adults aged 25 and older.
- Expected years of schooling for children of school-entry age, which estimates the total number of years of schooling that a child entering the education system can expect to receive.
-
Standard of Living: Evaluated through Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), which accounts for the average income and economic conditions of a country's population.
These three dimensions are combined to provide a composite statistic that aims to capture the overall development and well-being of a country's citizens.
