Which equation matches the statement: "The sum of -4x and 2 is 9"?

A -4x+2=9
B -4x+9=2
C -4x(2)=9*
D -4x-2=9

Solve. 1
___ x = 12
3

A x=4
B x=15
C x=36
D x=39*

Am i correct on these?

1 answer

#1A "sum" means add. "product" multiply.

#2C I have no idea how you came up with your answer. If you meant

x/3 = 12
then multiply both sides by 3, since 3/3 = 1. Then you have
x = 36

You did the multiplication, and then added another 3. Why? 39 is the solution to

(x-3)/3 = 12
