Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky, which is now part of LaRue County. He spent much of his early life in Indiana and later moved to Illinois, where he began his political career. Lincoln became a prominent figure in Illinois before eventually becoming the 16th President of the United States.
