When I was in college, countless moments and experiences shaped my understanding of the world around me, yet never did I envision a day like today.

Today stands not just as a pivotal moment in my life, but as a turning point for our nation.

Pause

a day when America takes a significant stride towards progress and healing. The choice you, the American people, faced over these past few months was monumental: a choice between division, fear, and stagnation versus unity, hope, and the promise of growth.

Growing up in a divided country, I have witnessed firsthand the discord that can fester within communities.

Pause to let sink in

I have seen neighbours turned against each other, friends separated by political lines, and families strained under the weight of ideological disagreements.
The scars of division run deep, often obscuring the shared values that truly unite us as a nation. But I stand before you today with a different vision, a vision where our collective strengths lie in our diversity of thought and our ability to come together, even amidst our vast differences.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge my running opponents, who have fought valiantly throughout this campaign. I have nothing but the highest respect for them, not just as opponents, but as fellow Americans who care deeply about the future of our nation. When I began this journey, I made a promise—a solemn pledge to pursue unity over division. And I assure you, that is a promise I intend to keep with unwavering commitment. I will not just be the president that the Democratic Party rallied behind; I will rise to be the president that America desperately needs in this pivotal moment of our history.

In fact, my running opponents have brought forth policies and ideas that I never would have conceived, ideas that challenge my own perspectives and have urged me to think beyond conventional boundaries. This is what true leadership looks like

being willing to listen, to learn, and to grow from those around you, regardless of their political affiliation. Therefore, I vow to surround myself with diverse voices

voices from across the political spectrum. In my term of office, I will actively seek out and take advice not just from those within my party, but also from Republicans, Independents, and others who wish to contribute to the conversation.

For too long, we have witnessed a political landscape where past leaders have tried not only to dismantle the legacies of their predecessors but also to disregard the hard-fought progress made by those who came before them.
Pause to let this sink in

This has resulted in a tragic cycle of wasted opportunities and lost advancements, all in the name of partisan rivalry. We have squandered so much potential for growth and innovation, all because of a refusal to find common ground and work towards shared goals.

There is a saying that Helen Keller had, that has inspired me often, and has been the basis of my campaign

“Alone we can do so little, yet together we can do so much”

As we move forward together, let us pledge to break this cycle of division. Let us embrace collaboration, where ideas are exchanged freely, and where agreement and compromise pave the way for the meaningful progress that our nation so desperately seeks. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in our collective story—one where we can rebuild trust, foster respect, and ignite a renewed passion for the future. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that reflects our values and aspirations, a legacy that celebrates not just who we are as individuals, but what we can achieve together as one united nation.
