Several ways.
1. Dissolve the I2 in KI solution.
2. Dissolve the I2 in CCl4, chloroform, or some other non-polar organic solvent.
3. Dissolve the I2 is Na2S2O3.
4. Reverse the polarity of the wires by switching the leads at the battery.

When a pair of copper wires are connected to the (+) and (–) terminals of a 9–V battery and immersed in a solution containing I- ions, one of the wires becomes coated with I2. Besides simply wiping off the wire, how else could you remove the I2 coating?
