Nevermind I found it! this is my answer--
The civil service examinations were how they chose the people to compete in the Olympic games. People would line up for days to watch the students write their exam answers. At least a couple of dozen spectators every year died of heart attacks because of the excitement. And there was a huge industry based on the bets placed on which students would flunk and which would pass.
What was the role of civil service examinations in Ming China?
does anyone have any idea what the answer could be. I was looking on the internet and found this-
--The civil service examination system, a
an effective cultural, social, political, and educational construction that met the needs of the dynastic bureau- cracy while simultaneously supporting late imperial so- cial structure. Elite gentry and merchant status groups were defined in part by examination degree credentials.
