What physical property could you use to separate sand and sugar? How would you do it?

Mix sand and sugar with water and heat the solution. the sugar dissolves and sand is left behind. filter and separate sand. Now heat the sugar solution, until water evaporates and sugar crystallises.
MELT THEM...DUHH!!!
