what mass ofNaOH is required to neutralize 200cm of 4.9gdm3 of H2SO4

1 answer

I worked this a couple of days ago.
You must mean 200 cm^3 and not 200 cm and 4.9 g/dm3
2NaOH + H2SO4 ==> Na2SO4 2H2O
grams H2SO4 = 4.9 g/dm x 200/1000 = 0.98 g
mols H2SO4 = g/molar mass = 0.98/98 = 0.01
It takes 2 mols NaOH for every 1 mol H2SO4; therefore, it will require 0.01 x 2 = 0.02 mols NaOH.
grams NaOH = mols NaOH x molar mass NaOH = ?
