What is the value of x in the equation x + 19 = 76?

X is a variable. You need to have x by itself in this equation. You need to have the x on one side of the equals sign and the numbers on the other.
In this instance a rule applies
What operation you use on one side of the equals sign...you have to do the same operation on the other side
For example:
(the number in brackets is the operation to get the x alone by itself)
x + 22 = 45
x + 22 (-22) = 45 (-22)
x = 45 -22
x = 23
CHECK:
x + 22 = 45
23 + 22 = 45
I subtracted the number from both sides of the equals sign.

or, you could do it simpilar and just do 76-19, and you get 57, x=57
