Treat it as you always do fractions. Multiply by the denominator to clear the fraction:

-54/x = -6
-54 = -6x
Now it's a cinch, right?

|x| is the "size" of x, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. It is defined as
|x| = x if x >= 0
|x| = -x if x < 0
So,
|8| = 8
|-8| = -(-8) = 9
8 and -8 are both the same distance from zero.

9m = -63
just divide by 9
m = -7
