What is the solution of the linear-quadratic system of equations?

{y = x^2 + 5x - 3
{y - x = 2
So confused about how to do this any help is appreciated.

1 answer

just use substitution. you know that

y = x+2, so now plug that into the other equation to get

x+2 = x^2+5x-3
x^2+4x-5 = 0
(x-1)(x+5) = 0
x = -5 or 1
So, y = -2 or 3
