What is the relationship between research- and evidence-based care? Provide an example that shows why this relationship is important.

Research has shown that disease is spread by germs. For thousands of years, physicians and nurses spread disease as they went from patient to patient. Today, they wash their hands (or use a hand sanitizer) before and after touching each patient. Lo and behold, hospital patients aren't infected nearly as often as they used to be.

Yes. It's only been in the last few years, though, that hospitals have put hand sanitizers in each room.
