"Among Us" is a multiplayer social deduction game developed by InnerSloth. Released in 2018, it gained immense popularity in 2020, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it became a staple for online gaming and social interaction.
In "Among Us," players take on one of two roles: Crewmates or Impostors.
-
Crewmates: The majority of players (usually 4-10) are Crewmates. Their goal is to complete tasks around a spaceship or an alien planet while trying to identify and vote out the Impostor(s). Crewmates can win by completing all tasks or by identifying and eliminating all Impostors.
-
Impostors: A smaller number of players (1-3, depending on the game settings) are Impostors. Their objective is to sabotage the Crewmates' efforts, kill them without being detected, and deceive the Crewmates into thinking they are one of them. Impostors can pretend to complete tasks and create confusion among Crewmates.
The game involves strategic thinking, cooperation, and deception. Players communicate and discuss in-game meetings to share information, defend their suspicions, and vote on whom to eject from the game. The social dynamics and the need for trust and betrayal make "Among Us" a unique and engaging experience.
