n should be -7 i think.
first, you decide which side (of the equal sign) you want to be Variable (n) and which side you want to be whole numbers (like 1) then you change the - to a + and make the (-1n) a +1n. if you want the side with the n to be Variable you want to take off the 8 by subractsing the opposite (-8) you are then left with just 1n on that side. what you do to one side you must do to the other so subract (-8) from 1 on the other side. you are then left with -7 on the Whole number side.
1n = -7 so what times 1 equals -7?
hope this helps
What is the answer to 8-(-n)=1? I have tried to figure this out, and I can't.

When you subtract a negative, all you are really doing is adding. This problem is simple. 8-(-n) is really 8+n. Can you take it from here?
8+n=1
Subtract 8 from both sides.
n=-7
Subtract 8 from both sides.
n=-7
