sometimes negative like if a player has done or said something bad or controversial and it is broadcast on the news and everywhere so that everyone knows about it

TV has improved sports in some ways. It's enabled players and coaches to replay the games and zero in on weaknesses. It's also brought more fans into the fold as they watch games on TV.

However, TV has made media stars of professional athletes, enabling them to be paid enormous salaries because of the many advertisements shown with games.
