C. Eutrophication
Eutrophication is the process by which excessive nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, enter a body of water, leading to algae blooms and decreased water clarity. This process can be caused by runoff from agricultural fields, urban areas, or other sources, which may have increased between 1990 and 2015.
What is one possible reason that average water clarity decreased from 1990 to 2015? (HINT: Go back and re-read page 2 of this lesson.)
A. A change in the amount of water.
B. Less deposits from runoff.
C. Eutrophication
D. A change in the amount of oxygen in the water.
