What is meant by "Manifest Destiny" and describe how belief in that idea was a main reason for the United States going to war with Mexico. Can you critique my work?

"Manifest Destiny" is hope in expansion of the United States to maybe one day reach the Pacific Ocean. I think the main reason is Mexico thought that the United States would take over their Country and the way things were done. They didn't want that to happen so they started a War.
