Think about having a pizza divided in to 4 pieces.
Then think about a pizza divided into 8 pieces.
We are saying if I have 3/4 of a pizza, someone is going to remove 3/8 of it.
It doesn't make sense unless we are talking about the same sizes.. so we would change 3/4 to 6/8
That means I have 6/8 of the pizza and someone takes 3/8 of it.
That leaves me with 3/8
When you subtract fractions, they have to have the same denominators. You keep the denominators and subtract the numerators.
