What happened at the Georgias secession
1 answer
Georgia seceded from the Union on January 19, 1861, following the election of Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States. The state held a secession convention where delegates overwhelmingly voted in favor of secession. After seceding, Georgia joined the Confederate States of America, which was a group of states that had also seceded and formed their own government. The secession of Georgia and other Southern states ultimately led to the outbreak of the American Civil War.
