Anything less than 0.5 or 1/2 (which is the same as 2/4, 4/8, 8/16, 16/32, etc.)
Convert whatever fractions you need to make the denominators equivalent, then subtract 1/2 (or what it's been converted to) and the other number.
Example: 1/2 - 3/4 is the same as 2/4 - 3/4. Because 3/4 is bigger (and you can tell immediately), 3/4 is GREATER than 1/2.
