What biomes have the highest population density?

8 answers

If we take the definition of biome as "A major regional or global biotic community, such as a grassland or desert, characterized chiefly by the dominant forms of plant life and the prevailing climate"

The highest population density would depend on whether the question is referring to one species or many. Is the question just looking at human population?

Also whose biome classification are you using? Also are aquatic biomes included?

If we take the WWF 14 biome classification then biome with the highest population density (all species) is tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest.
Sorry, this wasn't clear at first.
The question is what biomes of Nigeria have high population density ?.
Nigeria?

Again you need to decide which classification of biomes you are using. Is this list in your text book/notes?

Take a look at a map of Nigeria and you will see that there are a number of biomes represented. Below are the WWF 14 biomes, which of these are represented in Nigeria?

01 Tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests (tropical and subtropical, humid)
02 Tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests (tropical and subtropical, semihumid)
03 Tropical and subtropical coniferous forests (tropical and subtropical, semihumid)
04 Temperate broadleaf and mixed forests (temperate, humid)
05 Temperate coniferous forests (temperate, humid to semihumid)
06 Boreal forests/taiga (subarctic, humid)
07 Tropical and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands (tropical and subtropical, semiarid)
08 Temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands (temperate, semiarid)
09 Flooded grasslands and savannas (temperate to tropical, fresh or brackish water inundated)
10 Montane grasslands and shrublands (alpine or montane climate)
11 Tundra (Arctic)
12 Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and scrub or sclerophyll forests (temperate warm, semihumid to semiarid with winter rainfall)
13 Deserts and xeric shrublands (temperate to tropical, arid)
14 Mangrove (subtropical and tropical, salt water inundated)
tropical and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands (tropical and subtopic semiarid).
this did not help at all
Guy's, if your talking Nigeria, than it's rainforest. If your talking the world, it's probably the temperate deciduous forest. Just go on Google Earth and you'll sea the biomes, they look different.
