Variables: changes in pulse over time due to different activity levels
Tools needed: stopwatch or clock for time, paper/notebook and pen to record data
Controlling factors: I will perform each activity (rest, light activity, and heavy activity) for the same length of time before I take my measurements. I will repeat the experiment a few hours later and average my measurements together.
Procedure: I will take my pulse for 15 seconds at rest, after light activity, and after heavy activity.
Safety: Since the person will be exercising during this experiment, I will need to make sure to have water and either chocolate milk or a sports drink to replenish electrolytes. If the person is taking medication, I will need to make sure that this allows for the amount of exercise needed for the study. Finally, if the person has any sort of issue, I may need to call 9-1-1 for emergency services.
Using these 5 categories, come up with YOUR OWN investigation plan.
1) Pick one specific exercise.
2) Write the categories:
Variable
Safety
3) You need to state how you will repeat the experiment 3xs.
You will have to execute this plan so don't make it too complicated.

2) Categories:
Variable: Changes in heart rate before and after performing push-ups
Safety: Ensure proper form while performing push-ups to avoid any injuries. Have a mat or soft surface to perform the exercise on to cushion the impact on the joints.
3) Repeating the experiment 3 times:
a) Perform a set of 10 push-ups and measure heart rate before and after.
b) Rest for a few minutes and repeat step a) for a second set of 10 push-ups.
c) Rest for a few minutes and repeat step a) for a third set of 10 push-ups.
Ensure that the pulse is measured for the same duration (e.g., 15 seconds) before and after each set of push-ups.
