this is what I have so far:

“The hearticians walked in holding sheets of paper. The vitalized ink skittered across the pages. ‘Results are in.’
Marcus and Grace didn’t turn their heads.
Instead, they faced each other.”
Marcus and Grace stared deeply into one another’s eyes. Each wondered if the hearticians words would bring a glimmer of hope or if their world was about to come crashing down around them. Marcus, for his part, feared the latter. He felt his heart drum erratically in his chest, a heavy thud that echoed the uncertainty racing through his mind. Beads of sweat collected at the nape of his neck as he clenched his hands, and the dampness on his palms was a testament to his anxiety. Grace, her face pale and taut, stared at the floor, her breath quickening with every passing second. She felt light-headed as if the floor beneath her was shifting beyond her control. Together they decided to hear the results but they did not know which heart contained which results.
Grace was the first to react. She let out a shaky breath, and with a voice thick with tears sputtered,
“Marcus, I don’t know what to think. I have more questions than answers.”
Marcus felt shaken to his core. His mind was reeling. He knew Grace needed him to say something, but he felt mute. Thoughts swirled and dissipated in his mind. Finally, he had an epiphany.
“Grace, I think I understand the results. I’ve been so afraid of becoming my Dad that I wasn’t sure that I would be able to love you and only you for the rest of my life. His actions have skewed the way I view love, but I think my heart showed that my love for him is fading because I don’t want to become the same type of person that he is.”

Continued Narrative Ending for "Weight"

“The hearticians walked in holding sheets of paper. The vitalized ink skittered across the pages. ‘Results are in.’

Marcus and Grace didn’t turn their heads. Instead, they faced each other.

Marcus and Grace stared deeply into one another’s eyes. Each wondered if the hearticians’ words would bring a glimmer of hope or if their world was about to come crashing down around them. Together they decided to hear the results, but they did not know which heart contained which results.

Grace was the first to react. She let out a shaky breath, and with a voice thick with tears sputtered, “Marcus, I don’t know what to think.

“Maybe that’s what the results are meant to show us,” Grace breathed, looking up from the floor, her eyes wide with realization. “Perhaps they’re not a definitive answer but a reflection of who we are right now—struggling but determined. It’s a reminder that we can change. We’re not trapped in how our pasts have shaped us.”

As she spoke, the hearticians exchanged glances, their expressions a blend of sympathy and keen understanding. It was a silence that spoke volumes—silent encouragement. Slowly, Marcus and Grace rose from their seats. The audacity of hope coursed through them, fragile yet potent, like a whisper in a room full of shouting.

“I don’t want to just be defined by our histories, Grace,” Marcus said, his voice steadier now. “This is our moment to redefine what love is. I want to search for the roots of my love, to understand it, and not let the shadows of my past dictate how I feel about you.”

Grace’s eyes brimmed with tears, but this time they were tears of relief. “Then let’s be brave together,” she said, her voice steadier now. “Let’s uncover what we really want, what we’re really willing to fight for.”

Just then, the heartician stepped forward, breaking their moment. “If you both choose to pursue this path, know that it will not be easy. The weight of your backgrounds will loom over you, like the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz—grotesque reminders of how things can go awry. But remember, just as Dorothy faced those fears and soared above them, you can too.”

The room suddenly filled with an electric tension. Bodies in motion; Marcus took a step towards the heartician, something significant igniting in his expression. “What must we do?”

The heartician straightened, her face illuminated with a comforting smile. “Transform your fears into a catalyst for change. Clarify your love not just in words, but in actions. Create a new narrative together, because that is what love truly encompasses: a journey, a choice, a relentless pursuit of understanding and acceptance.”

Marcus nodded resolutely, locking eyes with Grace. “We need to take the next step. Not just for us, but to prove that we can overcome what’s holding us back.”

“I believe in that,” Grace said, her determination building. “Let’s seek therapy together. Let’s talk it out, face our fears, and redefine love on our own terms, without the shadows of the past blinding us.”

With newfound resolve, they turned back to the hearticians, poised for their next chapter. This was not just a journey; it was an adventure steeped in bravery—an awakening to possibilities untold. In that bustling moment, amid a haze of emotions and anticipation, they realized they were no longer just victims of their circumstances.

As they left the facility, the sky was painted with hues of pink and orange, casting an enchanting glow over their path. “Look,” Marcus pointed upward, awe coloring his tone. “It feels like a miracle is brewing above us.”

“Just like in The Wizard of Oz,” Grace murmured, smiling into the horizon. “It starts off chaotic, but if we persist, we’ll find our way—together.”

With hearts still heavy yet buoyed by hope, they stepped forward into a future uncharted but shimmering with the promise of love reborn.

In that abandon—the flying monkeys threatening overhead—they took the reins, turning their fears into strength and transforming their love into the enduring, fierce bond they were meant to create. With every step they took, the weight of their past became softer, the burdens lightened, and the horizon grew brighter. Their love was no longer defined by the darkness; it flourished with the light of possibility.”
