Which one would be correct for each sentence? Because it seems to me that they both make sense.

You need to learn and understand the principle parts of these (and other) irregular verbs.

Present tense: freeze, break
Past tense: froze, broke
Past participle; (has) frozen, (has broken)

So you mean whenever there is a had, has or have in a sentence. I use the the past partiple?
