triangle ABC has DE || AB with D between A and C, and E between B and C. AC = 12, CD = 4, BC = 24. find CE.

do i use similar triangles for this? i don’t really know what to do :(

DE will cut AC and BC in the same proportion, so
CE/24 = 4/12
CE = 24(1/3) = 8
