Last stat I saw was 47 percent, and I have seen one 59 percent (females employed outside the homes), if you dont count stay at home females who are cooking, cleaning, and taxing kids around.
So looking at the choices, I would go with 50, but you need to use your text or lecture notes, this number has changed rapidly in the past 15 years. And I wonder if this is a trick question, "American workers", excluding immigrants, and such. Some folks do such games with what an "American" is, at least here in Texas.
