One of my favorite free-time activities is hiking in the nearby mountains. I usually engage in this activity on weekends when the weather is nice and the trails are not too crowded. I enjoy hiking because it allows me to get some exercise, enjoy nature, and clear my mind from the stresses of everyday life. Hiking is my preferred activity over other pastimes because it is a great way to stay active and explore new places at the same time. Unlike my best friend's favorite pastime, which is painting, hiking is more physical and requires being outdoors, whereas painting is a more relaxing and creative activity that can be done indoors.
