To determine the number of deer in a game preserve, a conservationist catches 523 deer tages them and let's them loose. Later 468 deer are caught, 234 of them are tagged. How many deer are in the preserve?

1 answer

In the sample caught the second time 234/468 are tagged which is half of them.

So about half of the total population was tagged.

So the total population = 2 * 523
