Three metals P,Q and R form three ionic solids with three nonmetals X,Y, ands Z respectively as follows P2X, QY2, and RZ3. If their molar solubilities are the same, how are their Ksp values related? Please not only explain but write the respective dissociation.

1 answer

P2X ==> 2P + X^2-
........2x....x

QY2 ==> Q^2+ + 2Y^-
........x......2x

RZ3 ==> R^3+ + 3Z^-
........x.......3x

Suppose solubility P2X, QY2, RZ3 = 2 just for the fun of it and you can see how Ksp changes.
KP2X = (P)^2(X) = (4)^2(2)= 32
KQY2 = (Q)(Y)^2 = (2)(4)^3 = 32
KRZ3 = (R)(Z)^3 = (2)(6)^3 = 432
