This question is roughly based on some historical data from tropical cyclone Clare which crossed the WA coast near Dampier in January 2006. It started off as a tropical low north of the Northern Territory and was upgraded to tropical cyclone intensity at 8 pm on Saturday 7 January when it was located 430 km north of Broome. Clare steadily developed while moving on a southwest track towards the Pilbara coast at 25km/h. Clare weakened once making landfall at 11pm on the 9th. As it crossed the coast, it slowed and adopted a south south-westerly track moving at 12 km/h. Clare was downgraded to a tropical low at 11pm on the 10th. How far from Broome and in what direction was Clare when it was downgraded to a tropical low?
