Solve the system of equations for x and y by letting a=1/x and b=1/y, x does not equal 0 and y does not equal 0.

3/x+2/y=2/3
8/x-4/y=2/9

6/x + 4/y = 4/3
8/x - 4/y = 2/9

add them up to get

14/x = 14/9
x = 9

Now just plug that in to get y=6
