This might seem silly but in the rxn
O^2- + H2O --> 2OH-, can OH- behave as both the conjugate acid and the base?? Or is it one or the other?

How about writing it as
O^-2 + HOH ==> OH^- + OH^-
therefore, one of them acts as one and the other acts as the other. right?
