This lesson has covered solving two-step equations. In this discussion, you will solve an equation that is unique to you. Use this model to personalize a two-step equation by inserting the date of your birth in for the missing numbers.

(Number of the birth month) x + day of the month = year you were born

Let's take a look at Jeremy's post:

I was born on February 12, 2004, or 2/12/04, so my birthday equation is:

2x + 12 = 2004

My solution is:

2x + 12 = 2004

2x = 1992

x = 996

Personalize and solve a two-step equation by inserting the date of your birth in for the missing numbers.

I was born on November 15, 1998, or 11/15/98, so my birthday equation is:

11x + 15 = 1998

My solution is:

11x + 15 = 1998

11x = 1983

x = 180
