This is what i have The anglo saxons believe that fate is the grim view of life. You have no comtrol over life or destiny. Fate is the source that determines the result of events in Beowulf. Beowulf knows he may die and asks for safety for his men and not himself and that is sword may be returned to Unferth and his treasures be sent to his homeland. Beowulf leaves all to fate and looks forwar to the battle.
