The spectrum of colors in a rainbow, often referred to as the visible spectrum, consists of seven main colors. These colors, in order from the outer edge to the inner edge of the arc, are:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
You can remember these colors using the acronym ROYGBIV. The arrangement of the colors in a rainbow is the result of the dispersion of light, where different wavelengths of light bend at different angles when passing through water droplets in the atmosphere.
