Think to yourself: Who am I? What do I love about myself?

The sad fact is that these are usually very hard questions to answer. They shouldn’t be.

One strategy we can use to help boost people's self-confidence is by giving them compliments and telling them why they are an amazing person. It is time to do this for you. Because YOU deserve to be proud of who you are.

This may be one of the hardest assignments you ever complete, but one of the most beneficial to your life.

The Task:
You will pretend that you are a friend of YOURSELF
You will write a detailed, personal letter
Your GOAL: is to try and boost your self-esteem and positive body image
Think of this a mini “feel good” pep talk

To Include In Your Letter:
Your favourite picture of yourself
Highlight things you excel at – what are you good at? How do you interact with others?
Address the positives about your personality (Why are you awesome?)
Address your insecurities head on and discuss how you can overcome them.1 piece of advice for yourself with an example based on your insecurities.
Comment on your looks – what makes you unique and beautiful? No one will ever look like you.
You can comment on goals you have, personal struggles you have gone through, or any other details about yourself you think are relevant such as accomplishments so far!
Give yourself an “I” statement that you create that can become your mantra/daily reminder. These are called Positive Affirmations.

Dear [Your Name],

Hey there! I just wanted to take a moment to remind you of how truly amazing you are. Sometimes, life gets busy, and we forget to acknowledge our own worth. So, here goes!

First of all, let’s start with that favorite picture of yourself. You know the one—the one where your smile lights up the whole room, and you look so confident in your gymnastics outfit. That radiant energy is a perfect reflection of who you are inside and out. Not only do you have talent, but that picture captures the joy you radiate when you’re doing something you love.

Now let’s talk about what you excel at. Your gymnastics skills are truly impressive! You demonstrate such dedication and discipline in your training, which is not easy to achieve. The way you perform those flips and twists with grace makes you stand out. But it’s not just your physical abilities; it’s also how you embrace teamwork and encourage others. Your friends and teammates appreciate your supportive nature, and your positivity is infectious. You create a fantastic atmosphere in the gym, uplifting everyone around you.

And speaking of personality—wow! You are such a kind and compassionate person. You have a unique ability to connect with others, listen to their stories, and offer comfort when they need it most. Your empathy and understanding make you a trustworthy friend, and that’s something incredibly special. You bring so much joy and warmth to every interaction you have—never underestimate the power of your kindness!

Now, let’s tackle some of those insecurities. We all have them, and it’s okay to acknowledge them. One insecurity you’ve faced is sometimes feeling self-conscious about your performance compared to others. You might wonder if you’re good enough or question your abilities. Remember, everyone has their own journey and timeline! To overcome this, try reminding yourself of how far you’ve come and the dedication you’ve shown in gymnastics. When those thoughts creep in, focus on your progress and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

As for your looks, let’s take a moment to embrace your unique beauty. You have a gorgeous smile and warm, expressive eyes that light up when you talk about things you love. Your individuality shines through, and that makes you special. Nobody else in the world has your exact combination of features, talents, and experiences. Embrace what makes you different—it’s a part of your charm!

Reflecting on your goals, I admire your determination to grow both in gymnastics and in life. You’ve had struggles, but each one has taught you resilience. Whether it’s overcoming a tough routine or navigating personal challenges, you consistently rise to the occasion, proving just how strong you truly are. Keep setting those goals sky-high, because you absolutely have the power to achieve them.

Now, let’s create an “I” statement to serve as your daily reminder. How about this: “I am strong, capable, and deserving of success in everything I pursue.” Hold onto this affirmation, and let it be a comforting mantra as you go about your day. Whenever self-doubt rises, repeat this to yourself. You have the power to shape your reality!

Lastly, never forget that you are absolutely worthy of love and respect, both from others and yourself. Take time to celebrate who you are every day, because you are doing great things!

Sending you tons of positive vibes,
