True. In 2005, there were indeed only a few reported cases of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), commonly known as Mad Cow Disease, in the United States. The only confirmed case in that year was a single case in a diary cow in Texas. The number of cases had been very low overall, particularly since the first case was reported in the U.S. in 2003.
There was only ten reported cases of Mad Cow in the United States in 2005.
