The table shows the times, in minutes, spent shopping by two different groups.  First, find the mean times each group spent shopping.  Then determine the difference in the mean times.

1 answer

Group 1:
10, 15, 20, 25, 30
Mean = (10+15+20+25+30)/5 = 20 minutes

Group 2:
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
Mean = (5+10+15+20+25+30)/6 = 17.5 minutes

Difference in mean times = 20 - 17.5 = 2.5 minutes

Therefore, the difference in mean times spent shopping between the two groups is 2.5 minutes.
