The ratio of the number of bathing suits Dina had to the number of bathing suits Yana had was 4:1. After Dina threw out 26 bathing suits, she had 2 fewer than Yana. How many bathing suits did Dina have to begin with?

d/y = 4/1
d-26 = y-2
so, to find d, note that y = d/4. So,
d-26 = d/4 - 2
3/4 d = 24
d = 32
y = 8
check:
32/8 = 4/1
32-6 = 26-2
I was kinda confused at first, but then realized that the answer was d=32
thanks
