The ratio of female teachers to male teachers in a junior school is 13:5. if there are 48 more teachers than the male teachers, find the total numbers of teachers in junior school?

f/m = 13/5

I assume you meant

if there are 48 more female teachers than the male teachers (otherwise, that would mean there were 48 females, and 13 does not divide 48)

f = m+48
13/5 m = m+48
8/5 m = 48
m = 30

So, there are 30+78 teachers in all.
F/M = 13/5
so F = 13 M/5

M + F - 48 = M
F = 48

then M = (5/13)F = 18.5
total is 66.5
