= 5776 = 2975

5776 - 2975 = 2801

2801 kJ/mol of ethane / 30.08 g/mol = 93.11

The answer in the text book says 47 kJ/g.

What am I doing wrong?

you didn't balance the equation properly
it's supposed to be
2C2H6 + 702 -> 4CO2 + 6H2O
