The concept of the Triple Package, as presented by Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld, suggests that three specific cultural traits contribute to a group's higher likelihood of success: a sense of superiority, insecurity, and impulse control. According to this idea, groups that possess these traits are more likely to achieve success in various aspects of life, including education, career, and personal development. The sense of superiority instills confidence and ambition, motivating individuals to strive for excellence. Insecurity, on the other hand, drives individuals to work harder, fearing that they may not live up to their potential. Finally, impulse control allows individuals to resist short-term temptations in favor of long-term goals, leading to sustained effort and perseverance. Collectively, these traits provide a framework for understanding the dynamics of success among different cultural groups.
The Notebook has guided questions for each lesson.
The two questions posed for each lesson MUST be answered. Students should respond in a paragraph (5-6 sentences). Be sure to use proper grammar, and correct spelling.
Be sure to read the question and answer it accordingly. :)
The other two sections - “What questions do you have?” and “Other Notes/ Thoughts” are optional to complete.
THAT being said – Students are expected to use these sections often, but is it not required to use for each lesson.
We expect students to use these sections at least half of the time. :) Students should have questions and thoughts about the lessons / texts.
