The Master answered, ‘Never fail to comply.’

Fan Ch’ih was driving. The Master told him about the interview, saying, ‘Meng-sun asked me about being filial. I answered, “Never fail to comply.”‘
Fan Ch’ih asked, ‘What does that mean?’
The Master said, ‘When your parents are alive, comply with the rites in serving them; when they die, comply with the rites in burying them; comply with the rites in sacrificing to them.’
Analects II, 5

Which principle of Confucianism does this support?
A) Virtue
B) Social Order
C) Mandate of Heaven
D) Ancestor Veneration**
I think the answer is D because I know that ancestor veneration is mainly based on the respect and love for deceased family members. I eliminated C because it doesn't make any sense to this question, neither does B. So I think it's either D or A.

Please let me know if I'm right and if not- what it is. :)
