The information in the genetics unit I best understood was.... the concept of alleles and how they determine an organism's traits. I found it easy to grasp the idea that individuals inherit two copies of each gene, one from each parent, and that these copies can be the same (homozygous) or different (heterozygous). Additionally, I understood how dominant and recessive alleles interact to influence the expression of traits in an individual. Overall, I felt confident in my understanding of the basic principles of Mendelian genetics.
