dr bob is correct, the density of gold is consant, it doesn't depend on the volume. In my reading, you were asking for the apparent density of the bar will a hole drilled it. Similar to a steel ship, the density of the ship depends quite a lot on what the volume contained within the steel. So you need to decide what the teacher is asking, IMO>
